Bits products management for Extensions in the developer console is now available in open beta

Update (2022-01-24): Bits product management in the developer console is now considered generally available (promoted from its open beta launch in the original announcement below).

For developers using Bits-in-Extensions to monetize their applications, Bits products are managed using the Twitch API endpoints or the Twitch Developer Rig; a locally installed Electron application. The Developer Rig provides a local environment for development, but has also presented a challenge having to manage an Extension in more than one location. To centralize Extension management, we are introducing Bits product management for the developer console in an open beta starting today.

What’s new?

For Extensions with Bits monetization enabled, a new section has been added to the “Monetization” tab when managing an Extension version that will allow you to create, update, and deprecate your Extension’s Bits products. It’s important to note that even though this view is for a specific version of your Extension, Bits product management applies to all Extension versions.

Known issues

There are a few minor known issues with the current open beta version of Bits product management in the Developer Console that we plan to fix in the beginning of 2023.

What’s the future of this feature before general availability?

  • Adding the ability to set specific deprecation dates
  • Further improvements to the user interface

How do I get started?

Visit the developer console and click on any Extension that uses Bits-in-Extensions. Navigate to the “Monetization” tab and if your Extension has Bits-in-Extensions enabled, you will see a “Bits Products” section at the bottom of the page.

This is awesome, thank you for this update!

It would be nice if we could order the list by Bits amount.
