# Bot is unable to get messages via IRC from chat with Followers Mode

It works as expected reading chats without Followers Mode.  
I’m not trying to send messages, just read.  
Do I have to ‘follow’ my bot to dedicated channel? If so, how do I do that?

it should last I checked, following isn’t required to read a followers only chat.

What/how are you trying to read chat?

IRC or eventsub?  
Which channel?  
Whats the error being returned if any?
