Channel.moderator.add/channel.moderator.remove events not being received

Hi fellow devs,

I’m trying to subscribe to channel.moderator.add and channel.moderator.remove events using WebSockets in Conduits, but the events are never being received. I can see the subscriptions are active (using GET eventsub/subscriptions) and I do have the moderation:read scope. Are there any more conditions I am not aware of? As far as I can see in the documentation, it should work as is. Other events, for example chat messages, are being received over the same WebSocket just fine.

(I also tried using Webhooks, this also didn’t work)

Thanks in advance!

What was the conditions used?

I’d speculate you have listened to the wrong channel and the broadcaster_user_id in the condition is not the channel_id of the broadcaster you are expecting to listen to?

Thanks for the quick reply! The conditions are just {"broadcaster_user_id": "<id>"} with version 1, and I’m sure the IDs are right: I checked the active subscriptions (GET eventsub/subscriptions) and they match the channels I’m testing in. The subscriptions are created with an app access token on the conduit, for channels where my app is granted moderation:read and channel:manage:moderators, and the status is enabled.

What is the ID you have used?

I have tried this on 2 separate channels, 745452632 (KorocketScience) and 1543846805 (FlextreamDev).

I also reduced this to the simplest possible setup in a separate application, no conduit and no app token: a plain EventSub WebSocket (wss://eventsub.wss.twitch.tv/ws) with a user access token for the broadcaster (scopes moderation:read, channel:manage:moderators, user:read:chat). I subscribed to channel.moderator.add, channel.moderator.remove (both v1, condition {"broadcaster_user_id": "<id>"}) and channel.chat.message as a control. All three return 202 and status: enabled.

After sending a chat message, modding a user and unmodding them again, the chat messages arrive on the socket, but neither channel.moderator.add nor channel.moderator.remove does.

And you were adding/removed moderators to those channels?

So a mod was added to KorocketScience?

Yes, I tried modding/unmodding several users on the KorocketScience channel (FlextreamBot, which is the account the application is registered under, and FlextreamDev, which is just another regular Twitch account)

in a spot check it’s not firing for an existing subscription

And I saw a error/no acknowledgement of modding a user in my own chat.

No I also don’t see an acknowledgement in chat of modding a user, but if I try to do it twice, it does tell me the user is already modded. I do see an acknowledgement in chat of unmodding a user though.

yeah I think theres an outage of some description…

Have you seen this working recently or might this have been broken for a longer time already? If it’s just a short outage I’ll just wait it out, but otherwise I might need to file a bug report somehow.

In any case thank you for your extensive help and checking!

well I last got one on the 12th (checking my centralo log) but it’s not too often mods change on my group of channels.

I nudged it somewhere so just waiting for a loop back

Apologies, this was indeed broken! We’ve since fixed it so everything should be back in order.

Thanks both for the quick response and solution! It is indeed working now!
