# Testing Video Overlay

Hi there,

I’ve developed a video overlay on the local rig, but how do I test it? Do I have to set up OBS etc and actually set up my own stream just to test this works? Or is there a way I can see it working on a dummy stream without having to fire up a whole streaming set up?

You have to actually have a stream running when the extension gets reviewed. You could use OBS, but something as simple as ffmpeg streaming a blank image is sufficient and minimal resource usage.
