# Top categories based on the number of followers

Is there a twitch api which return list of top categories(Fortnite, Dota 2, etc…) based on the number of viewers/followers?

There is the [Get Top Games](https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/api/reference#get-top-games) endpoint which will return a list of the top categories based on the current viewer count.

If you need to get the number of viewers, you would need to page through the [Get Streams](https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/api/reference#get-streams) endpoint and sum the counts from streams yourself.
