Im currently getting an

```auto
{
  error: "Bad Request",
  status: 400,
  message: "cannot create a subscription for a user that does not exist",
}
```

when attempting to run the node example. I have previously used.

```auto
 curl https://api.twitch.tv/helix/users?login=booklordofthedings --header "Authorization: Bearer [REDACTED]" --header "Client-Id: [REDACTED]"
```

to get the id (144205133) however when supplying that to CHAT\_CHANNEL\_USER\_ID im getting that error.

The account is that same account that I authorized the application with, so idk why its doing this.

It was expressed as a string and not an integer/number?

`channel.chat.message`

The parameter is a string, I did also try casting to number, but that gives `"missing or unparseable subscription condition"` instead

Is the `BOT_USER_ID` also cast as a string and is for a real/valid user?

This thread has only spoken/discussed the broadcaster/channel to read the messages of. But what abotu the user to read chat as?

Thank you, that was the issue.
Bot\_User\_Id was the name of the bot, if I just set that to my own userid it works.

Does that mean I need/should create a seperate account for my bot if I want it to have a different display name ?
