Based on the docs, it appears that I should be able to add an event listener to the twitch embed object, and then get the player object when the video is ready or starts playing. however, as you can see in this codepen, the event never triggers, even though the video is playing.

I kept them separate because I thought they were two totally separate issues. As a developer, I always find it annoying to deal with two separate bugs in one report.
S’all good I think theres a bunch of stuff just weird with embeds pending the update soon.
