Hello,

i’m a young VB.Net developer of an IRC Bot and i wanted to ask a short question because i ran into the same problem now multiple times. A subscriber got timed out false positive because he posted an URL and my bot thought he’s not a subscriber.
Normally I’m looking for the “subscriber” tag if it’s 0 or 1 to check weather it’s a subscriber to the channel or not. Please correct me if I’m wrong but how is the following IRC Line even possible?

Is this a Prime subscription? My best guess is that their Prime subscription has expired, but the token to resubscribe hasn’t renewed yet. Thus, they still have the subscriber badge (subscriber/0) but the backend sees them as a non-sub (subscriber=0). Curious if that’s the case.

yes it’s a prime sub as i can see in the logs -> ( Subbed at 2016-11-25 05:07:16 UTC )

As i mentioned earlier i ran into this issue now multiple times. I can search through the logs for more examples and post the specific IRC Lines in here if necessary? Please let me know if i have to change something on my end (e.g. looking additionally for the badges) or if it’s a bug on twitch side.

I thought the number associated with the badge tag was what version of the badge the user has?

@Six OP’s inquiry is that, the subscriber tag is showing as 0 (subscriber=0 - thus, they are not a sub in the back end) however they have a sub badge (also indicated by the tag in badges), so there may be a delay in when the Prime subscription has expired (hence subscriber=0) however the token isn’t available for re-subscription so the user still has the badge (or atleast, that was Dallas’s initial guess :stuck_out_tongue: )

Sorry. I was out with the flu. My initial guess wasn’t far off. This is a bug where the user will still have the badge but aren’t actively subscribed. It’s an issue we’re tracking and looking to fix. It leads to a weird user experience where the back-end says subscriber=0 and the badges system still has them entitled to those badges. Thanks for the report! Surprised we haven’t heard more reports. :slight_smile:

The subscriber tag isn’t used all that much now that badges exist. It would explain why some giveaway systems weren’t detecting everyone with the sub badge as subs…
