Just listen for the SERVERCHANGE. Then once the message appears, disconnect from chat and reconnect to the AWS servers.
No need to run 2 instances.

Implementing a second connection and managing which channel is on which connection can often be more trouble than running a second instance. Depends on the application of course,
Is there an ETA for the finished migration of all channels? As i got aware of this issue today i am concerning rewriting my bot or shall i sit out until the migration is finished?
Start writing support for both, They are migrating gradually which means more and more of your users will become affected as time goes on.
Here is a minor bug I noticed. Hosting a channel works correctly, as in the HOSTTARGET and NOTICE commands are sent on the AWS clusters. But when hosted channel go office, the HOSTTARGET and NOTICE commands are sent on the main clusters.
How are whispers over the group server going to be handled? nvm: â- These changes do not affect group chatâ didnât see that, my bad.
How will this affect whispering via IRC? Currently I can join a group server to send or receive whispers. Will these group servers stay the same? Will I be able to continue whispering this way?? If not what is the correct way to get our bots to whisper?
See OP
Is there a timeframe that the changes happen in? I can assume not over night, however it would be nice to know when all the changes each day are done so any manual work for streamers can be done.
Thanks!
Are âtwitchnotify> n people resubbed while you were awayâ notifcations not a thing anymore on the new servers?
Those were such a nice way to instantly see on an irc client that someone went live, but I havenât seen any of those on the new servers, at least in the two channels I have always open.
Weâre working with the TwitchAlerts developers to get things working. Stay tuned!
Migrations are happening during the day rather than overnight, but at varying times. Weâve nearly migrated all partners at this point, so the general migration will be underway soon!
What about the rest of us?
What specific problem is Twitch Alerts having that doesnât affect the rest of us?
Weâre just pointing them to this thread and asking them to update their app accordingly. The rest of you are already in this thread.
On another point.
You are only moving offline channels.
How are you dealing with offline channels that have a LOT of offline chat in it?
IRC clients will receive the SERVERCHANGE message which instructs them to reconnect. On web, theyâll see that chat has stopped, and will need to refresh the page.
Looks like TwitchAlerts now supports AWS. Enjoy!
Not sure what you mean about twitchalerts?
I was asking about the messages in chat from twitchâs own twitchnotify account whenever someone goes live they used to say â3 people resubbed while you were awayâ or whatever, but those messages seem to be gone since the server change.
Whoops - I misread your post. Let me check it out. Most twitchnotify messages should be working â Iâll look into this particular case.
General migration soon? I was migrated about 6 days ago and Iâm not partnered. Also any idea on an ETA of when Live From Playstation will support the new servers? As of now Twitch chat does not work at all through Live From Playstation, receiving nor sending, for anyone thatâs been migrated.
