I have a question about the Twitch Extension review time. I normally wouldn’t be asking in this dev forum if wasn’t waiting for an extended period of time without any response back.
I submitted my extension on Dec 5th 2023, and got some comments back that I worked towards with the review team. I resubmitted in early January (around Jan 8th). I haven’t received any feedback from Twitch regarding my extension, and I’m eager to know if there have been any developments or if there’s any additional information needed from my end to expedite the process.
Could you kindly provide me with an estimated timeline or let me know if there’s anything I can assist with to facilitate the review? Please let me know if there is anything I can share (Extension name, Client ID, email) for reference.
Your prompt response would be greatly appreciated.
On Jan 23rd there was the announcement on Discord and the Docs page
Reviews for Extensions, organizations, games, and chatbot verification are temporarily paused while we revise our processes. We are working to resume reviews as quickly as possible and will share updates with you shortly. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
There have been no further updates to that announcement, so Extension reviews are still on hold.
Prior to this there was the significant layoffs at Twitch in early January, and the December break from December 16th to January 3rd, which all contributes to the delays in Extension review you’ve experienced prior to the announcement of a hold on reviews.
A significant number of Twitch staff was let go. Twitch do care but as has been explained previously it takes times to reorganise, train, and plan for things to start up again, so just because you don’t see thing that may be going on behind the scenes does not mean that Twitch are not doing what they can to get Extension, and other, reviews up and running again as soon as they can. When they have something new to announce, they’ll announce it.
You can’t say that you really care about the developers and then layoff the teams that take care of the developers. I’m sure the staff that remain truly care, but the management’s actions show otherwise.
It’s possible for a company to both care about their end users, and still have business needs that require them to reduce the headcount across all departments. They’re not mutually exclusive.
