Can I store aggregated Twitch game stats for longer than 24 hours?

Hello,

I’m building Cover Next, a free website that helps YouTube creators figure out which games are worth making videos about.

I’m currently testing Twitch’s Get Games and Get Streams APIs. Nothing is publicly displayed yet, and test data is deleted within 24 hours.

I’d like to track roughly 100 games a few times a day, storing only two numbers per game: total viewers and stream count from up to 300 sampled streams. No usernames, channel details, or individual stream data would be kept.

The idea is to keep these numbers for up to 12 months and show trends on the website.

I’m a little confused about the 24-hour storage rule in the Developer Services Agreement.

Does that rule also apply to aggregated numbers like these? If so, is there a way to get permission to store and display them longer?

I’ve already emailed Twitch, but thought I’d ask here in case anyone has dealt with something similar.

Thanks!

I cannot find such a clause in the DSA - Twitch Developer Services Agreement

So where have you seen such a clause to ensure giving correct information/advice

“Do not store copies of Twitch Content or Program Materials, unless you: (a) obtain prior written authorization from Twitch (through these terms or otherwise); (b) control the rights associated with such content; or (c) cache such information for only a twenty-four hour time period without further sharing it with third parties.”

  • XIII. Additional Terms - Schedule 1-C

thats what I get for ctrl+f-ing for hours over hour

What you do/propose should be fine as it’s in line with tools such as sullygnome or twitchtracker already do and you are not linking to user specific date.

So you store your math result. not a copy of the data from the API anyway conceptually.

Just derived results of analysis. In my opinion additional permission isn’t needed here, but I’m not a lawyer (so naturally this isn’t legal advice)

Thank you,
I mean it is for a non-commercial site/more of a personal project-ish. If anything goes wrong, I’m glad to remove it from integration. until then, I will keep using it. Thank you once again.
