Feature Request: Allow moderators with elevated permissions to manage VIPs and moderators via API

Hi,

I’d like to suggest a feature request regarding moderator role management via the Twitch API.

Currently, endpoints for managing moderators and VIPs (add/remove) require a broadcaster token and cannot be used by moderators, even if they have elevated or trusted roles within a channel.

In practice, some channels rely heavily on trusted moderators (e.g. lead moderators) to manage the community. However, these moderators are currently unable to automate or manage roles via the API, even though they may have the necessary trust level within the channel.

Feature Request:
Allow moderators with sufficient permissions (e.g. elevated/lead moderators) to manage VIPs and moderators via the API, without requiring a broadcaster token.

Benefits:

  • Enables better automation tools for moderation teams
  • Reduces dependency on broadcaster tokens
  • Improves scalability for larger channels with active mod teams

Thanks for considering this request.
