Hi Guys! I’d like to know if it’s possible to configure random Drops for viewers while they’re watching a livestream instead of awarding Drops purely based on the amount of watch time.
Our goal is to encourage viewers to stay and watch the entire show, not just remain for a set amount of time to claim a reward.
Is there any way to achieve this through the Drops system, or perhaps an alternative approach recommended?
The Drops system only allows Drops for either Watch Time, or Gift Subs & Subscriptions.
If you want to do something that encourages more engagement you would have to do something entirely separate from the Drops system.
One example, Borderlands 3 created their own system where the streamer ran a Twitch Extension on their channel and when certain events in the game took place (such as opening a red chest), that would trigger the Extension to show an set of rewards that he viewer could claim for within their game too. This encouraged viewer participation as if the viewer was just idle then they’d miss the events within the Extension that needed user interaction and not get anything. While the Twitch Extension ran within the Twitch site, everything else about this system was entirely ran by the Borderlands developers.
If you’re looking for something that’ll be handled and done entirely by Twitch though, that’s not something they offer.
